Albon Liquid 5% help resolve coccidiosis which is a protozoal infection of the intestinal tract and susceptible bacterial infections. What is Albon Liquid 5%? Albon Liquid 5% is an oral antibiotic that is used to treat coccidian and other bacterial infections when used as directed by your veterinarian. What are the benefits of Albon Liquid 5%? Liquid formulation is palatable and readily accepted. Highly effective in treating coccidiosis plus other susceptible bacterial infections. Formulated for: Dogs and cats How is this medication given? Give all medication orally exactly as directed by your veterinarian. You can give Albon Liquid 5% with food if necessary. The entire course of medication should be completed even if your pets symptoms resolve sooner or infection could recur or worsen. How does this medication work? Albon Liquid 5% works by halting the production of folic acid production in coccidia and certain bacteria so the organism is not able to produce proteins necessary for growth and survival which results in death of the targeted organism. What results can I expect? Albon Liquid 5% will kill coccidia and other bacteria in the intestinal tract and in other organs if necessary. The entire course of treatment should be completed or infection can return or get worse. Your pet should feel better by the end of treatment. If your pet is still having problems, always contact your veterinarian for further instructions. What form(s) does Albon Liquid 5% come in? This is a liquid with flavoring. Generic Name: Sulfadimethoxine(Common Drug Name) Common Brand Name: Albon Dose and Administration: Administer as directed by your veterinarian. If a dose is missed, you can give it as soon as you remember but never double dose. The entire course of Albon Liquid 5% needs to be completed. Always contact your veterinarian if you have any questions regarding the use of Albon Liquid 5% in your pet. Uses: To treat coccidiosis (a protozoal infection) and certain bacterial infections. Possible Side Effects: This medication can cause crystals in your pets urine but sickness can be prevented by keeping your pet well-hydrated. If animals take Albon Liquid 5% chronically, it can cause dry eye or keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS). Always stop using Albon Liquid 5% and consult with your veterinarian If your pets eyes appear red, inflamed, or infected. Drug and Food Interactions: Drug interactions may occur with antacids and some other medications so always discuss all medications and supplements your pet is taking with your veterinarian before giving Albon Liquid 5%. Precautions: Pets with an allergy to Albon Liquid 5% or other sulfa medications cannot take this medication. Pets suffering from dehydration are not good candidates for this medication. Use Albon Liquid 5% cautiously and only when your pet is closely supervised by your veterinarian if there is a history of bladder/kidney stones, liver disease, kidney disease, or pregnancy/nursing.
